I Need Some Help With This One

Fri Aug 17, 2007 2:06 am

I'd like to get this one in the db.

Firstly rejected for soft

APPEAL_20070812_4RADB_030907_LHR.jpg

also here as I don't know how to find appealled photos

LHR.jpg" target=_blank>http://www.iesphotography.co.uk/4RADB_030907_LHR.jpg

Appealled as you can see and it got rejected for Soft, Dark and common.

Taking this on board, here is a re-edit, so is this better?

I wonder why the screener considered this to be a "common" image. I think it's very nice but a little blurry.

Because there are already 106 images of this a/c in the DB, common refers to the number of pics in the DB, not the nature of the picture.

COMMON
The aircraft depicted in your photos was very common in the Airliners.net database, with many photos of this aircraft already present on the website.

In this case the standards for acceptance are higher than for aircraft of which we have fewer or no photographs on the database, and only photos of exceptional quality will be accepted.

Please understand that this is not a judgement on your abilities, as your picture may be of a technical quality which may be very decent. However, due to the common nature of the aircraft photographed, the highest standard is applied to avoid substantial duplication.

When uploading you should always check our database for the amount of photos we have of the particular aircraft you are uploading. If a particular aircraft or registration is common in our database, you may increase the likelihood your photos of it will be accepted by photographing it from an unusual angle, under exceptional lighting conditions, or with interesting scenery in the background.

Regarding your reedit, did you use s/h tool? I'm asking becuase the shadows look a bit on the bright side...but overall I'd say it's not dark. The sharpening is indeed tricky under such lightning, but to me it feels that in some areas it could use still some more selective sharpening (shadows).
This is a tough one but certainly one worth the effort! Good luck!
Just sit back, relax and have a glass of Merlot...enjoy your life!

Thank you Andres, I am aware of that. As the quote you provided states...

...thus my remark since both the angle and lighting are more interesting then your usual high-sun side on shot.

Andres, No I didnt use the s/h tool, I don't like that tool. The original is RAW so I use RAWshooter. sliders on the histogram are brought right in.

Well I'll chance that edit unless any screeners pitch in....?

Hi Ian, well being supper critical the nose is a little soft, there are jaggies starting to show on the trailing edges and there is a slight lack of contrast.

Nice shot all the same, don't forget you can't get a common rejection on it's own so if you crack the quality then you should be ok.

Good luck .. Jid

Oh P.S. Don't be too upset after Sunday !!!!

Cheers Jid. supper or even super critical is not good!!! Maybe I can touch up the contrast a bit, afraid of the dark rejection which appeared on the appeal to be honest.

I'll be in the red section at Eastlands on Sunday, I'm posting nothing about the scoreline what with your lucky start to the season!!
