I did not know it just released. That explains why that website I go to DCRP Review hasn't reviewed it yet!
The limitations of the S2
is exactly why I want to get a digital SLR. I spend too much time getting the focus lock to work, and the manual focus on it is horrible. I am considering the 40D as my first choice, however the XTi being cheaper is definitely a thing to consider. The way I see it, if I am going to invest money into a camera I want it to last a long time. If I get the XTi, I will want the 40D in two years (knowing me).
I do not have expert skills yet, I think I am a decent photographer who is limited with that I got. Yeah I can take great pictures with the S2
, but I am ready to move up. I like how the 40D has the Digic III chip, 10.1 MP
(though I am sure I don't need more than 8). I do like how Canon has all CMOS over CCD that the Nikons have.
The photography girl I know from work definitely knows her photography, she is more than likely a technophobe, I imagine she grew up cleaning cameras left and right and doesn't like how she can't access certain areas. I thought the anti-dust feature was a pretty neat one to tell you the truth.
Of course I like to take great aviation pictures with it, but I do travel a lot, and would love to have a superior camera to take superior pictures. (One of these days I'll buy a cheap point and shoot just to keep something in my pocket).
Obviously the 40D is more expensive, and I imagine so will good lenses and filters, I think in the long run, the 40D will be a better investment since I can add to it as I become more experienced with it.
I guess I'll have to wait for the reviews of the 40D to come out, but more than likely that is what I will get.
