Spotting In LHR, Terminal 2 And 3, In HKG And AKL

Thu Sep 27, 2007 5:52 pm

Hi to all,

I will be flying on LH/NZ from MUC via LHR to AKL and back in November. So I will have to transfer between LHR's Terminals 2 and 3. Now four questions regarding this matter:

1. How can I get from T2 to T3 and viceversa? Do I have to leave the transit-area or is there a transfer-bus or something like that (like e.g. in CDG) for transiting passengers? How much time should I calculate for this. Will 2 hours layover be enough?

2. Is there any chance to photograph airplanes from T2 and T3? Where? Reachable from inside the transit-lounge?

3. What about spotting in AKL? Any good spots in the Terminal or reachable by foot from there? Observation-deck?

4. Is it possible to photograph airplanes while in transit in HKG? Any obeservation-deck there? Other spots reachable from inside the transit-lounge?

Thanks a lot for your help and best regards from MUC,

Mike

I can't help with heathrow or hong kong.

Auckland has an enclosed observation deck in the internantional terminal and a semi enclosed one (glass walls open top) in the domestic terminal.

Contact one of the NZ spotters who will give you more info.

Heathrow Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 you walk as its not very far its less than 300-400 metres between terminal Buildings.

This is the link to the official BAA LHR/EGLL web site.

As for Spotting land side for get it as you will just get hasstled all the time.

Airside its fairly easy in the terminals once your in the Airside area through Pass port control that is!

I don't think you can walk between T2 and T3 if you are airside. It is possible between T1 and T2. Photography is possible in T2 airside but you will be into the sun from the morning until the late afternoon.

There is no "spotting deck" in HKG..all u can do is walk from gate to gate shooting pics theru the big windows..just be careful of back reflections in the glass...
