Rejections That Made Me Smile

Tue Oct 02, 2007 4:21 am

Had a recent batch of rejections. This one made me laugh.

There was debate a while ago about a photo rejected for level taken from here and...Oh No.. another one.

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...big/20071001_EGCC_011105_CSDHC.jpg

It was levelled on the building vertical above the flight deck windows, the structure with the "B" on it, etc. all look level. I was sensitive to level rejections taken from here after the last debate, so when I saw it had been rejected for level, I had to laugh.
It was discussed ad nauseum in this thread. http://www.airliners.net/discussions...ation_photography/read.main/282813

This one also made me grin

Quality, contrast, motive, grainy. Wow! really dreadful I guess! I'm surpised it didn't get level as well!

The motive was not for cutting the wings off, oh no it was the wee sign in front of the main gear. Ah well.

On a more serious note (if that's possible), this was bumped for "contrast" among other things. Is "contrast" the new "quality"? Is too contrasty, too little? I've really no idea.

A few soft rejections as well. Looks like the screener's new monitors haven't arrived yet  Smile

Derek - most of your shots were marginal at best.

Hate to be blunt but it's my opinion.

It is shocking you would question the Excel 757 rejection, it is pretty awful.

They can't have been that "marginal". They were all rejected!

That is a straight up lie. I HQ'd several of them. And they have not been screened by anyone else.

Are you playing games? I see you uploaded a clear double. Why? Surely you understand what a double is?

Correct statement but has nothing to do with your rejects. All rejected correctly.

Hi Derek,

Surely British engineers know that buildings usually are supposed to have vertical walls, even if the terrain is not flat...
Check the concrete building to the left... they better sue that architect  Wink

I was talking about the 9 that had been rejected so far. You said " you're shots WERE marginal" I assumed that to be PAST tense.

Quoting Clickhappy (Reply 3):

No it was a misinterpretation of what you said. I'm not too keen on being accused of lying on a public forum and I ask you to withdraw the comment.

I know there are 16 still in the queue presently waiting.

I accidentally uploaded a photo that I have already got on the database. It was added over 2 years ago. I forgot it was already on the database. I am very sorry. Imagine that - an uploader makes a mistake - whatever next.

I didn't use buildings to the side as apparently the lenses I use may suffer from barrel distortion so I only use references in the middle.

Thanks for the comments anyway.

Hello all

I think there have been enough useful comments to allow at least one of the images to be re-processed.

Thread archived.

Hi Derek,

In general that's correct, however distortion is mainly visible when shooting with wide angle lenses. A zoom lens is more or less unaffected.
