Hello Mark,
hope you are keeping well and weather is good at LHR!

Thanks for the heads up, I just had a look through this huuuuge amount of pictures (Lufthansa Album for example includes more than 1000 images) but luckily I wasn't able to find any of my pictures among them.

Here's some really good news - if someone uploads your images to Flickr, they could end up getting sold and reused without your permission. Recently some guy uploaded a picture of a friend, Flickr resold it to Virgin in Australia, and she ended up on posters all over the place. Last article that I saw, Flickr is standing by their "open use" license of any uploaded image.

He was using one of mine, and I was alerted to this yesterday. I posted a nice little comment underneath it about stealing photos and taking further action.
I understand that it has now been removed.

Hi Florian,

Hope you are well also, and the weather is typically British

I was going to comment on mine James, but I'm not a member and couldn't be bothered to sign up just to comment.

CalgaryBill, interesting link, thanks.

Flickr allows uploaders to select what license they want to use. They can either select a standard all rights reserved copyright, or one of several Creative Commons licenses with varying terms, some of which allow commercial use.

Flickr lets photographers choose what sort of use, if any, to permit for their photos. It doesn't impose any open use licence. Not that this helps a great deal if someone is uploading stolen photos, but I thought I should clarify.

Incidentally, I just had a look and the offending photos seem to have been removed.

Not really a solution.. You just buy a first class membership, and all the watermarks are gone...

I heard about this... Virgin Mobile got in quite a bit of bother over it because of the way they captioned the photos. I'm not surprised really. I steer clear of Flickr for that very reason.

It makes you wonder though, a simple person stealing an image, posting it on Flickr and then ending up on worldwide billboards could net you a significant amount of cash, however the downside is that it would have be a court battle.

Makes you wonder if its worth it at all?
