"Level" Rejected -- Any Suggestions?

Fri Oct 26, 2007 2:57 pm

Hi there,

I got this rejected for level (my standard reject these days...):

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20071025_071009_LSEZ_HB-XPJ_HD_98.jpg

When doing this, i had a hard time to figure out how to level, and ultimately decided on the helicopters skids -- which the screener (although one "in training"...) did not quite like Sad

Any suggestions?

Would an appeal be justified?

Many thanks,
Hans

Hans,

It's off just enough to be noticeable. If you use PS, you can use the ruler tool (it lives underneath the eyedropper in the tool palette) to draw a ruler line. I drew it on the horizontal edge of the helipad. When you do that, then go to the Image > Rotate Canvas > Arbitrary... and it will automatically fill in the degrees and direction to level it to where you drew the ruler line.

In this case, .7 degrees CCW.

The skids aren't parallel to the imager, so I wouldn't use those to level in this case.

Also, if you turn the rulers on in the View menu, you can drag guides from the horizontal or vertical rulers and place these guides along verticals or horizontals to gauge their straightness. These help to judge levelness as well.

Hi Dan,

thanks for the suggestions -- tool-wise I usually have the gridlines shown -- but in this case I was really uncertain to decide what to use for leveling.
The helipad's edge was one choice, the benches on the hill the other one...

I guess I will try the helipad's edge in this case.

Cheers,
Hans

Hans, you didn´t level the helicopter skids! They need some extra CCW!  duck

Good luck with it.  thumbsup

Cheers
