My First Time In Honolulu - 1 Photo, Advice Needed

Thu Nov 15, 2007 12:34 pm

I ended up in Honolulu by accident on a United Airlines 870 flight that did a emergency landing in PHNL with an engine oil pressure problem. After a 6 hour delay, this 767 arrived to get us to KSFO. It had technical dramas as well. Despite all that, the crew on the plane looked after everyone very well.

I took that photo. Since I do still have the RAW file, should I do any more editing to this before attempting to put it in the queue? Should I rotate it CW to level the taxy-way, or should I leave it as is and have the building in the background level (vertical lines)?

I'm also going to try putting this one in the queue:

That MD11F did the first go-around I've seen. Either it came in too quickly, or the BA 777 on the runway was too slow in getting away. I never realised just how noisy and smoky an MD11 could be.

Hey my advice would be to forget about the UA shot. Ramp clutter is in the way so its a no go.

UPS looks quite good. Check the histogram, it looks under exposed to me.

Thanks for the advice - but the UPS one is representative of the brightness on that day.

What I might do is leave it for the moment, see what it gets, and if it does get flagged for exposure, I'll see what I can do about it. I tried adjusting the exposure a little bit and it loses detail when I do it.

I could try this in place of the UA one:

I also have a Singapore 747 that might be worth it:

You know, I hate to say it but...I wouldn't be surprised if it got a motiv rejection because of the small sign in front of the main landing gear.

Doesn't matter - its under exposed.

Well, i don't think it would. Its not all that big. Could be wrong though.

Other two look good - I'd be checking the exposure of both just to be sure, but I'd also check the colour balance on the Cathay shot. Look a little off at first glance.

I think my screen might have something to do with it as well on the exposure stuff, I've got the Apple A1081 which is very bright. I might run the Spyder on it just to be certain.

Thanks for all the advice!  Smile

I could probably do something about that sign on the MD11, but that'd be sneaky..  Wink

Both the UPS MD11 and the Cathay B-LAF got through.  Smile

I'm happy.  Smile
