Not motive but it's dark and looks oversharpened and washed out.

Don't think this will make the cut, it's a very common aircraft. I'd wait for better (sunny) conditions. I know it's tempting to go out and shoot in any type of weather when you're new to this but best wait for the sun.

Cheers

Even if not suitable for Airliners.net, photographing on challenging days can improve your skills and artistic eye.

There may be a day where you need to catch a newsworthy or notable event and the weather will not be on your side. Those skills are invaluable and may pay dividends some day.

No, I think A.net actually likes taxiway signs:

But, as others have said, this picture suffers from quality that would be very hard to fix.  Sad

Seriously! I really don't understand the attitude of discouragement from folks regarding shooting in anything but sunny weather. Sure, cloudy weather is a bit more challenging, but that's a good thing right?? It should not be a reason for an automatic "can it and wait for better weather" response.

Same goes for backlit pictures. If done right, they should be fine!

Ryan I am surprised at this coming from someone who shoots in sunny California!  Big grin

Also Tim mentioned that subject is so common to this database that it needs to be of the best quality to get in. Pretty fair IMO. Besides basic photography dictates that if you want the utmost quality and sharpness and detail you need proper lighting. How good would the SI swimsuit issue be if they didn't shoot in ideal conditions first thing in the morning with that perfect sun.. You couldn't enjoy Heidi Klum in all her German perfection!

Now that is simply a great photo!

But I'll chime in with my little experience, I also think photography on a bad day really does help you. I got a few photos of the SIA A380 on its first flight into Sydney - but none of them are good enough for here. Still, it was a learning experience, and it was my first time using the Sigma 50-500mm.

I never said you should never shoot in cloudy conditions, sometimes it can produce stunning results. But if you're gonna shoot sideons at Manchester I really think it's best to wait for a sunny day, the shots will just come out better. If you're doing it for the learning experience all the better but don't be surprised if you get some rejections here.
