Screening Advice - White Isn't White

Sat Nov 17, 2007 9:52 pm

Hi all

I tried uploading a picture taken a few minutes earlier of this plane and it was rejected for colour and contrast quality and level. I have had lots of soft rejections, level I can fix. But colour white isn't white and contrast I am not sure on. Is the white on this image a problem? and if so is there anyway to fix it? I didn't shoot in raw so I can't change the white balance settings in the raw converter. I can see that the pale part of the fuselage where its in shadow doesn't look very white but looking through the whole series none of the images of this plane looks pure white. I also think the nose is probabally a bit soft.

Thanks
Rich

Hi

The colour is not that far off. Might be a little blue, but the to poor light is the real problem. The light is over the top and off the nose giving it poor colour.

But you shouldn't have any trouble making minor adjustments in Photoshop or other photo editor...

Rich, that light source angle is a tough one in this case, but I noticed the white temporary vinyl pacth or painted patch by the rear exit, is the same or close to white on the engine nacelle, and both are different than the base coat on the fuselage. The base coat is either dirty or it is a white paint called MATAHORNE WHITE and is NOT a brilliant white, it is a darker white if you can imagine that. Some times in this case, just try AUTO LEVELS. Sometimes it works great and other times it blows everything , but I have had much success w/ it...Jerry
