Dark Rejection

Wed Nov 28, 2007 12:48 pm

Hi guys,

Got the photo below rejected for "dark" yesterday. That's about the 3rd time I get it rejected for dark. I'm thinking of appealing as I don't really agree. But would that be worth it or would I just everyone's time?
I took the photo in the morning (sun just getting through) with a thick layer of fog present on the field.

Thanks,

Kas

It's a nice image, Kas, but I would agree with it being slightly dark. Also, the light isn't strong enough to prevent the colours looking a little muted. A rework might help, but as a photo it has a great deal of merit.

Hello Kas,
nice picture but I think an appeal will fail, it's just too dark.

As said it's dark but a little curve adjustment will work wonders Kas...

I gave it another go, it's lighter now, but is this ok or still too dark?

Hi Kas,

If you look at the histogram, you still have plenty of space to move the right slider to the middle. Additionally, once done, you can also move the midtones one more towards to the middle, all resulting in a much clearer and naturally looking picture. Just as an example, I just moved the right one to 230 and the middle one to 1.05, and the result looks much better.

Hope it helps  Smile

Hi Andres,

I tried that as well, but I thought it looked to bright/washed out. I'll give it another go  Smile
Thanks.
