A Search Through The Hard Drive Yielded These...

Fri Dec 21, 2007 4:15 pm

...and with the new motive standards, I thought I'd post them here (in an effort not to crowd the other thread that everyone's posting photos in). I'd appreciate any input, especially screener input.

I'm quite fond of all of these, and I think they all deserve a second chance.  Wink

Nice shots ,in my opinion, the pictures number 1, number 6 and number 8 have the best chances.
pic 6 also needed 0.45 CW rotation and for the centering, you should put the aircraft higher in the frame.
pic 8 this a good example of a well motivated shot.( adjust the color balance ) and its O.K. for the new rules
Good Luck  bigthumbsup

I really like 1 and 8. The others don't do it for me

#1: rej. for motive
Just a little wider angle that didn't clip the top and trailing edge of tail and it would be a winner
#2: rej. for motive/distance
I think distance is the real issue, if it were closer it might work
#3: rej. for motive
For me the prop is just a little too solid & distracting
#4: rej. for people/motive
Close thing for me, but IMO the ramper does not relate to the plane in the pic so is a distraction, without the ramper the clipped stab would contribute to the motive issue
#5: rej. for motive
Another close one but this is Airliners.net not BacklitTallbuildings.net
#6: rej. for centered
A little low, and I am assuming correcting that would put more ramp equip in the pic. Unbalanced to the left as well. Also appears a touch unlevel. (nice pic tho)
#7: rej. for motive
A touch too tight vertically and not tight enough horiz. along with lacking that "special something".
#8: rej. for people/motive
I would like this pic more with a portrait crop to eliminate(minimise) the baggage cart and the jetway and without the shadow on the radome
#9: rej. for motive
The stairs kill it, without them, a good chance!
#10: rej. for motive
Not for me, too much dead space at top and not enough interesting content.

Having said all that, those are my opinions only and how I would judge the photos if they were my own.
Others will likely differ, that is how it should be!

Cheers

Chris

I can only see 9 standing a chance with new rules and then its gonna be a close call.

Sorry but I can't see any of these doing the trick.

I like the first one, but it is a pity that the top of the fin is not in the frame. One step backwards would have included it.

Thanks for the input! It looks like I'll definitely try at least #8, as there seems to be a consensus.  Smile

If the screeners are screening with the same mindset as you two are, there's not going to be much change in the screening at all! I thought the point of the changes was to allow more "creative" shots.

Well, I could have, but I think the aircraft is framed a lot better with the fin chopped.

Again, thanks for the input, and please, keep it coming! Screeners are welcome to comment as well!  Smile

I guess there are differing opinions regarding "creative", in fact yours and my viewpoints prove that.

I'll second that. I doubt any will make it in, new standards or not.

They are creative. But as mentioned, the first one would be fantastic, but to me, as it is, its uneasy to look at. Even if you had either stepped back or even forward, would have been a little better in my eyes. The cut off edges just make it hard to look at.

Same as the runway shot. How much more interesting would it be without the prop blocking the most important part of the shot?

But just my opinion. Well are all bound to have a difference of opinion.

Agreed, and obviously my viewpoint is more than a bit biased; that's why I'm asking the members here. It's quite easy to judge another's photos, but it's extremely hard to judge your own.

Quoting Eadster (Reply 10):

Quite a lot more interesting, I know. Unfortunately, that was the one and only chance I had to take that shot, and there happened to be a prop in it.

As I haven't uploaded any yet, I think I'll wait until more clarification on the "new rules" has been provided. Again, thanks for the comments, and you're welcome to continue making them.

Well, #8 got in!

I also tried #1, and got a personal message from the screener saying that motive was okay, but that it's a double. Completely forgot about that.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who helped - this is encouraging; I may try a few more!

p.s. How about this one?
