Do you mean sites for plane spotting or sites for aviation photography?

They are not the same thing.

Quoting Viv (Reply 1):

Yes, they're different, but it's becoming the same - aviation photography on this site, so IMO it's not needed to mention, it's becoming cliche.
Anyways, to stay with topic, I think you have some hill overthere, where you can take perfect shots from, but not sure, as I've never been there.

Yes there is a big hill near the airport.

Or you will have to find a spot on the side of the road to get approach shots like these.

This was taken from the southern end of the airport when the wind was blowing from the north.

The mountain is too steep ( rock faces on the side that faces the airport. ) and its got alot of scrub and bushes and tall grass, alot of stinging trees really hurt if you touch them. and I'm not sure about the road but it will probably happen. and Ryan nice photo of the Qantas Dash8

There was a "hang glider on a wire" company operating outside the airport ( don't know if they're still there ), approximately opposite the Queensland Rescue hangar on the south side GA area that had steps up to their upper operating area. They were happy to allow me access to that area which gave an excellent view of southerly departures / northerly arrivals. A bit of a steep climb but no nasty stinging vegetation to avoid. Their car park area was in the public park inland and opposite the southern end of the airport on the hillside. For approaches from the north there is a road that runs across the north side side of the approach which gives an unobstructed view of aircraft on finals. No parking problems at all here. Take a look on Google Earth for a better idea of the access.

I'll see about that because that hang glider on a wire has been for sale and deserted for a while and I'm not sure if anyone is still there but I'll give it a try. Also I was wondering if there was any places right in front of the the runway that I could take pictures from and do some spotting
