Birds In Images

Sun Dec 30, 2007 8:44 pm

Are birds in the frame that cross paths with the aircraft OK? I loved the deep sunset light in this shot but as I was sharpening it I noticed looking at it that there's a bird smack in the frame there by the nosegear. Dangerously close to a birdstrike but nothing bad happened. If it's not OK I understand, I'm just curious.

Id say your shot is perfectly acceptable.

Indeed, if anything, the bird adds to the shot.

It happens a lot in AMS. I had these accepted (though the left one would now probably be rejected for dark and centered)

and this one rejected for motive recently. I can see the difference.

I think yours will be fine.

Quite different as the birds are not in front of the aircraft.

I think that could get a motive rejection just like for people obscuring a plane.

At least in this particular case, the image was approved. Huzzah!

Although I noticed either the screener edited out my remark about the bird or it was victim to the disappearing segments of remarks (which I have seen happen on a few photos lately).

Unless you put parenthesis around "Bird" or your entire remark, then it was edited out.

As a Student Pilot I Don't mind a few birds, but as long this doesn't happen.
