Thanks To A.Net And The Photographers.

Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:41 am

Hi,
This is my first post on this site and having just had my 100th photo accepted I thought I would share my thoughts on getting this far.
I have found it sometimes painful as my photos were not getting accepted in the beginning but this was due to my own fault and experience level.
I had been trying for ages to have a photo accepted and was happy when I finally broke through.
After reading many threads here and working hard on taking photos I am quite pleased to see my work improving and have chosen Air 2 Air to be my chosen path but will still take some ground to air photos.

So thank you to everyone who has given helpful advice on there own and other peoples threads.
It has made me go out and try harder and my skill level has grown and this site and its photographers have really helped.
I have learnt a lot about photo shop as well.

If there was one piece of advice I could give to a person trying to get photos uploaded here it would be this:
look hard at the photos here and ask yourself do your photos match the quality of those on the site before you upload and look up photos similar to yours so you can compare. Once you do this acceptance of photos gets a bit easier, well thats what I did anyway.

So thanks to everyone and there are so many photos on this site to enjoy.

Cheers

He could but you can find them yourself by looking at the List of photographers, click on the "About Us" tab at the top of this page and either re sort alphabetically or scroll down until you get to photogs with roughly 100 uploads!

BTW he had a neat(but perhaps not so cool) Kittyhawk on the front page a couple of days back!

Cheers

Chris

PS Gavin, a great collection of NON Airliners!
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

Maybe not cool to the youngsters, but they played a big part in aviation many years ago. Its great to see them still going today.

Well I guess that definitely takes me out of the youngster's list then!  Wink

And though I'd consider myself as a youngster with my 19 years, I'm a huge fan of photos like this.

Cheers and keep up the great work,

Great shots Gavin,
What Kit are you using, both cameras and aircraft to get the great A2A shots?

Damien

Thanks for the kind words.
Earlier photos were taken with a 20D and a Sigma 24-70 EX.

The lens was ok but limited in range.

The later shots were taken with 30D and 40D with my lens of choice being a 24-105 L IS.
Only use formation rated pilots for camera ship and subject aircraft and that produces good results..
Never stop believing.
