Beginner Help With IPhoto

Thu Jan 24, 2008 10:28 am

Hi everyone,

I have just started Aviation photography but I am having a few issues. My photos are all around 3500 x 2500 so i reduce them down but so far all my photos have been rejected, I also wondered wether you have to have an editing program to get them in?

Thanx in advance,

Trueman

They are still too big. You should at least reduce done to 1024; that might help with some of the quality issues.

Most digital photos require some processing. There are several editing programs out there, but Photoshop is one of the more popular applications here. You also need to develop a workflow for processing your photos. Here is a one that has worked well for me: http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/PsProc.pdf

Also, be familar with the reject reasons...there is a link to the reject reasons on the Photo Upload page.

Hi Trueman,

What would you say is the subject of the first two photos?
The third one is interesting, but this site almost never accepts square photos, and the rear tire is cut off.

With regards to the 3rd one I had one very similar just rejected. Is Photoshop my best option? and does it run on Mac?

I would have thought that they would have accepted at least one of them (not these ones) as there are few shots from LRE or the QF founders museum. Where can I get Photoshop from in Australia (what stores? Smile? Or would someone like to help me edit one? Iphoto has a basic editing part but its not very good

Yes. And yes if you buy the Mac version, or if you have Parallels or Fusion and run Windows, the pc version will work.

Ther first two shots would get a 'motive' rejection.

You might also check into Photoshop Elements...it is not as expensive as the full-blown Photoshop, but it still packs some good features for photo processing.

And PE 6 for Mac has just been announced with delivery sometime in March.
PE 4 will do everything you need to get photos processed to Anet (or even print) standard.

Cheers
