What Cameras Are People Using - Canon 350d?

Sat Feb 09, 2008 9:07 pm

after two years i have a disappointing 2 photos successful on the site. due to a recent accident i am having to get a new camera setup and my main camera is now the 40D. one thing i realise is the changing of lenses constantly (i do landscape mainly but have a passion for aviaton) from wide angle to telephoto.

i am thinking of getting a 350d and leaving it on my new 100-400mm lense and hope it is of good enough quality to give me the tools to take photos that would be worthy of this site.

my 40d will be for my wide angle/prime lenses. it is extravigant having two bodies but the probs with having one previously are apparant and the 350d has come down in price alot.

let me know your thoughts??

Sure the 350D coupled with the 100-400 will certainly produce good enoguh results for this site

That's exactly my kit, but will be upgrading to the 450D.

If you can afford it, go for it. I wouldn't think changing the lens would be such a big deal that you would have to buy another camera body. The 40d has 6 fps and a better focusing then the 350d. (I think). I would just use the 40d for both landscape and aviation. It is a good idea to have a backup camera though. The 350D is a great camera, the only thing thats "wrong" with it is the small grip size. (It doesn't bother me though).
~its a JEEP thang~

Personally I'd wait around for the 450D and spend the extra £'s. It's a beautiful looking camera, however it takes SD cards which may be an issue if you've already got CF's.

Then it could be a good idea to go for a used 30D. Big grin

Sounds good to me. I use my D200 with a 200 2.8 for my primary shooting and my old D70 with the 400 for backup. If you can go with two bodies go for it. It sure beats changing lenses all the time. Good on dust spots too! Big grin

Yes that would help with not getting any dust spots for one as you wouldnt need to change lenses often & secondly would save time if all of a sudden some really beautiful narrowbody was jetting down fast, for which you would need the longer barrel !!
