Rejected Due To Subject Not Being Centered?

Wed Jul 16, 2008 9:51 pm

This photo was rejected and the appeal was rejected. They said it was soft focus and not centered. I understand the soft focus, but not the centered part? It is NOT supposed to be centered, it is a line of aircraft. The subject is multiple aircraft, not a single one! If it was centered, it would not work at all. Okay, well apparently if I want to put photos in here, I have to pay. I'm not doing that, so I'm linking my flikr.com photo that I submited.

Let me know what you think. Thanks

I agree with the centered rejection.

It's a bit low and you should crop more to the left.
Hope you don't mind me using your photo, I cropped it a bit different to show you what I mean:

Edit: If you can include the whole wheel of the first a/c and a bit of the cockpit, that would be even better, because you also risk motiv now.

If there is some way you can crop to include the nose-gear of the first aircraft, you might have a winner.

Can you post the original? I think it would be more acceptable if the crop included the main gear of the first aircraft in the row.
Change is: one airline, six continents!

That is the original. I see what you mean about the wheel of the first aircraft and motive.

If that's the original, I'm sorry to say that it has no chance. Shame - it's a fine shot.

....sigh, Guess I will have to go back and get it again. Maybe they won't have 4-point and will all be even this time. :p

Next time stop down on your aperture...it should help get the whole line in focus.

I think the shallow DoF was intentional, and in my opinion makes the shot a bit more interesting.

The dead space in front ruins it. Crop it or re-shoot it tighter. Don't stop down, you'll ruin it if all are in focus.

Exactly it looks better with the ones towards the end out of focus than it would if they was in..

Nice shot.
Make sure they know we're playing the game, but we don't need to play the game because we've already won the game.
