Level And Contrast

Mon Aug 18, 2008 2:01 pm

I had the following 2 shots rejected for level,

I am thinking between 0.3 and 0.8 CW to get them level. Would I be going along the right lines with this sort of value.

Following shot was rejected for contrast,

I think I need a touch less contrast on the image. Yes / No?

You are correct. The Uzbek is nearly level, and the right-hand verticals are actually level but if you look at the left-hand verticals they lean to the left. Best to always use a vertical in the centre of the frame - in your case there isn't really a great one visible so go for a balance whereby the left-hand-most vertical leans in that direction by the same amount as the right-hand-most vertical leans in the opposite direction (if you know what I mean).

Sounds good also I would give them a little kick of sharpness too, both need a little especially on the titles IMO.
