The Wonderful XH558

Thu Sep 11, 2008 7:18 pm

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy the wonderful pictures of the Avro Vulcan that are showing up recently.

I have been reading about the restoration for some time now and the huge amount of money it takes to keep this airplane flying. What a task!

I can't wait to photograph the Vulcan myself and I do hope they can keep her flying for a long time.

Take a look, it's one of the best photogenic airplanes in the world and there is only one flying:

I saw this beast perform today at the Jersey air display. It was raining and no chance of getting a good shot wit my equipment either, never in my life did i think i would ever see one flying.

Its take-off roll at Farnborough was amazingly short.  Wow!

Hello

Yes, nice aircraft and some nice images.

Was reading the paper today and it says they are looking for more money or they may have to ground it again.

Regards

She's the only Vulcan I've seen fly, albeit a couple of decades ago:

Not a silly idea! Maybe they could pay for a couple of hours of fuel, so we could have our own private display! Worth a dream!

"to deliver on our promise of flying for about fifty hours per year and providing a range of educational activities, we need to continue to raise about £1.6million per year gross, averaging out at £135,000 per month."
