Uploading Of Airliners.net Photos To Youtube

Sat Oct 04, 2008 9:17 am

I know I can hardly take the copyright high moral ground by uploading BBC Airport episodes to Youtube, but this guy seems to be taking the mickey. He seems to be inserting Airliners.net images into his videos then putting (copyright) "his name blah blah" all over the video and when someone questioned him about it other videos, he was claiming he knew all the photographers. Evidently he doesn't down to the sheer number of similar videos he has.

Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention. On a first glance I couldn't find any pics I took.
Every photographer should take a look and contact youtube or the user to let him remove the videos - unless you want him to show it  Wink

Till now I found at least 3 of mine (not sure about others - Germanwings in the air looks all the same) and one from Chris Waser (I recognized b/c it was taken at DRS).

Anyone knows a better way to send a removal request to Youtube than http://www.youtube.com/copyright_complaint_form

I advise you all to browse thru his videos, many many Anet pics are used most still showing the copyright bar.

I watch the B-52 video (if you can really call it a video...) and it was literally nothing but ANet photos and a god awful 1980s Hair metal track.

However, I will point out that the guy had left the Copywrite bar and ANet logos in full view and all are very readable in the video.

Not in all videos, in one (can't link b/c Youtube is blocked at work) there are only the pics showing Copyright 4roger and that's the point here why I'm a bit angry. Also if he claims to know the Photogs he he's not saying the thruth b/c I don't know him and he never asked me. I always would say yes for such requests, but with not asking he has to face the consequences (removal of the video).

I'm not trying to defend him, and I only watched the B-52 one. I was always under the impression from previous conversations here that if the copywrite bar is shown, then its not a breach of copywrites.

Common mistake, keeping the copyright bar does not give you the right to exploit other peoples material without given consent. Do you think I could take an Anton Corbijn photo and put it on a product of my own as long as I keep "Copyright Anton Corbijn"? Absolutely not.
It is a breach of copyright laws if you duplicate intellectual material without the consent of the owner.

Thanks for the link, just found one of mine in the ERJ-145 video. I sure as hell don't know the guy and never gave him permission. Most annoying, he doesn't even seem to be bothered by watermarks.

Almost two weeks and still no reply from Youtube for me

Then I would try again, flag the videos, send them emails until you get a reply. This is just inacceptable.

That is really annoying. Is there a way to contact the guy who published this video? Let him know that you are not amused and will take further steps if he refused to remove the videos?

Can't edit the message to add a few words....

Got a reply from the guy that he had lot's of complaints about those vids lately but most of the pics are from friends/relatives of him who gave permission....yes, he knows almost all Photogs on Anet  Wink

I would advise you all whose pics have been used to write him a short message via Youtube and tell him to remove the videos.

The one video that contained a single shot of mine was removed within a few hours after I complained to both YouTube and him. Just be clear, and if he's being difficult, send him an invoice. BTW, I sent him my e-mail in German, maybe he's too thick to understand English.

We are communicating in German. He now told me that he's also an Anet Member and knows many people here and if there's a single chance to keep the videos online with/without my pics instead of removing them....

Why so quick to judge, man. I can understand the view your coming from and I understand the assumptions you're making because it's happened so much to a.net photographers but still ...  Yeah sure

My photo of an AA 738 at MIA that you use in your AA tribute was uploaded to a.net with a watermark. It is in your video without one. However, the quality is so pathetic, could be you used the thumbnail instead. Bottom line: remove the video from Youtube, as you didn't ask permission.

If a thief robs a house or steals a car that is unlocked, does that make it right?

You say you are a member....then you had to agree to the terms. Did you actually read them?
