Photography Locations At Tulsa OK?

Mon Nov 10, 2008 7:55 pm

Hi Guys,

Off to Tulsa OK (26 hour flight routing.....yuck!) on a business trip this morning.....and might have an afternoon free for some photography at Tulsa.

Can anyone help me with some location help, or if not Tulsa, any airports, airfields in the vicinity that might be interesting?

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew, I spent some hours in TUL this August and there are some decent locations at both ends of rwy 18L/36R - I believe at 36R there is an official viewing location, while at 18L there is a spot opposite the AA maintenance (you're a bit low there but it's a cool perspective - due to weather, none of these shots are online though). Regular traffic is standard fare but there can be some interesting stuff.
Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been...

Or drive to Aardmore, OK and say hi to "Jean"  Smile

Andy...Pls stop in LAS.

There will be a few local guys doing road trips to places like LAX, PHX and we might even get down to IAH this winter.

But then again LAS is prime territory as well...

And you know NIKV will be out here in Nevada for 3 months..that sounds like tonnes of fun doesn't it...*wink*

Or fly to LAX then a short day trip to LAS wouldn't be too expensive. Heck we'll even pick you up and show you a great time.

It's always a blast!!

Let us know..

Dave

Hi Andy,

There is not much to see here in Tulsa. There are public viewing areas on the southwest corner of 36R and northeast corner of 18L, both locations are closed for stupid reasons but you can still pull into the driveway and park there. There are also bizjet hangars located between the parallels, one hangar has a parking lot that faces 18L/36R that you can shoot from. I believe the 138th FW is deployed so F-16 action is limited.

Hasn't been the same without Whitebird but I will take the Sun though! It will be a great winter Dave! Can't wait. Getting the cruising vessel ready as we speak.

Ralph  Wink

I liked the Fine Airport Parking Garage. Paid $6.50 to park in the outdoor lot, caught the shuttle to the garage, went to the 5th floor, and shot some arrivals/departures. Very hazy, 97°F, nothing came out, not like it would have if they haze wouldn't have been there, my lenses aren't much to write home about  Wink I went to KRVS about 9-10 miles from KTUL, and shot alot of Cessnas. Busiest airport in the state in terms of operations is KRVS.

Good luck, and don't get too bored at TUL where you wanna jump off the parking garage.
Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand, just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

Yes but did you go to a place to get authentic wiener schitznel?  biggrin

Hope you got some nice stuff Andy. May make me stop this winter when I go through! If you can actually stay on the road.

Yes, the sun was playing a bit of hide and seek. But the best part of the day was meeting another like minded aviation enthusiast......and isn't that always the best part of this hobby.

but no Weiner Schnitzel  Smile
