Photography At Beijing

Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:55 pm

Hi All,

Off to Beijing (PEK) after Christmas and looking to get a day at the airport for some photography. Grateful if anyone can help with some location help!

Thanks in advance!

Guess no responses......never mind!

Anyway will be making a trip to Datangshan, that obvious! Big grin

However, are there any other museums or places of interest for an aviation photographer to investigate in Beijing?

Thanks again for any help offered!

Andrew, I've only been to Datangshan myself (be sure to go there!) but the Off-Airport - Beijing' photos reveal a number of interesting places including:

Beijing Aviation Museum, Beihang University

I suggest you contact Yu Ming, who took some of these photos. I met him when he lived in Newcastle. He can also tell you more about photography at the airport.

I tried to hit Datangshan, the China Revolutionary and Military Museum and Beihang University (Beijing Aviation Museum, Beihang University) all in one day, but found that it was too much. The China Revolutionary and Military Museum has less stuff - I now think that Beihang University might be a better combination with Datangshan. The trick is to have a good driver who understands what you want to do and is willing to wait.

Just for info.....the Beijing Aviation Museum, Beihang University was closed, according to my driver who called to check and has been closed for more than a year Sad
