Spotting At IAH/EWR Terminals During Layover.

Wed Jan 28, 2009 3:02 pm

About mid march I'm planning a two week trip to south Florida. I'll probebly be flying CO from AMS to PBI/FLL via either IAH or EWR. The choice partially depends on the spotting abillities from the terminal/parkinglot. Which would be best to kill time at?
I think IAH will have my preferance due to the colder weather in EWR but if EWR offers more and better photography I'ld rather spend time there then in IAH.

Any tips on where to go to take pictures on either airport are welcome.

Thanks,

Michael

P.S. Anyone wanting to meet in MIA/FLL/PBI for a few hours of spotting, let me know. I'ld like to hang out with a local who knows where to go.

Having been to both, I would recommend IAH. Terminals are really nice and I haven't had a problem with shooting there. For everything else (including the parkinggarages) check out houstonspotters.net.

Be sure to call HAS when you're going up there, they won't bother you if you do that.

@JRadier: Thanks, I'll leave my winter coat in Holland and check out IAH. Looked up houstonspotters.net and looks like plenty of opertunities on top of terminal/parkinglot. I've spent a few hours at IAH in 2007 on a 5 hour layover to TPA but couldn't find any pictures of that on my SAN so I guess the weather wasn't that good. Believe they had ice storm at that time. Anyway, this makes selecting a outbound flight easier, via IAH. Going back will select a short layover via EWR and save on travel time. Big grin
