Actually, they're not bad. #1 is over-sharpened, and #2 is a bit grainy and a touch soft, but both only need a bit of work. I couldn't promise they'd get in, but it might be worth a shot after a bit of work.

#3 is also slightly over-sharpened, and needs a lot more contrast. #4 is just about right, but also suffers from a touch of over-sharpening (see the leading/trailing edges of the wing).

Overall, I think all four would stand a chance if you put a little time into fixing the minor issues they each have.

Quoting Jetplaner (Reply 2):

As Hongyin said, not a chance on the first two, the quality is way too low. The third one is better, but the contrast is too harsh, and you can see all the dirt spots on the window, so also no.

This was taken on a cloudy, gloomy day but I think it has potential, what do you think?

Also what should I do to eliminate the noise here?

Quoting Plainplane (Reply 5):

1: too dark (i know it's because of the weather, but if you lighten it just a bit, it's a perfect shot Smile)

2: I don't think it's that noisy, but unfortunately very blurry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quoting CaliSam (Reply 6):
1: not enough contrast (the "nwa" title isn't black enough, but you can easily correct this in Photoshop)
2: like number one; a bit to bright
btw: I love both shots, so please upload them  Smile
#1: dark, contrast
#2: grainy dark, contrast, center, and maybe border
Quoting CaliSam (Reply 6):
I think ok to both. The second one's angle looks a little odd, maybe tiny CW rotation will help, but I am not sure.
I don't think #2 is fixable. I will try to brighten #1. Would that fix the contrast issue also or is there something else I would have to do?
Thanks for the tip on the hor.stab., I shall recrop it.
Larger it is, easier to edit on my 24" LCD (1920x1200). At 1024x768 some of the details are too small to see/edit clearly. Actually 1600x1063 or thereabouts would be ideal for me.
On the flip side, these larger images lose this advantage on my notebook's smaller LCD which has a max res of 1280x800  Sad
I submitted my modified JetBlue into the queue, if somebody has last-minute advice for that one I will pull it and work on it some more.
I am also wondering if this might also have a chance if I edit it, but I doubt it. (It was taken on a day with even worse weather than the B6 pic):
Since I am new here and I don't have any photos in the databases (first 2 got rejected) I need to be careful what I upload, so I am trying to get an idea here.
Would any of these stand a better chance of acceptance? Any comments are most welcome. Thanks for your time and help  Smile
BTW, the green 'shadow' on the underside of the fuselage is the reflection of the sea. These were shot from the coastline. Weather was lousy yesterday, to add to the misery (all white cloud cover...sigh), it was hot too. I am finding it very difficult to get the WB right on these :/
It'll get a motive rejection I'm afraid because of the loader blocking the front landing gear. I'm not sure it's level either (looks like it could do wih a bit of clockwise rotation).
Hello everybody,
I am new to the photographer section of Airliners and have already submitted images that were rejected. Now I just found this thread and hope to gain some insights before submitting any more.
Here is one I took last weekend. The interesting part about this one was that it was just pulling up because it was instructed to do a go-around due to traffic on the runway.
Looks blurry and oversharpened to compensate. Also lacks contrast and is grainy (shadow highlight tool used?) and could do with some centering
Quality is good. Did you by any chance use the shadown/highlight tool or fiddle with the contrast? The bellies look a bit washed out
Thanks for the input Tim; very much appreciated.
I did adjust the levels in Photoshop CS3 to increase the contrast, but have not used any highlight/shadow tool. There is also some reflection from the sea (green waters) on to the bellies, since these were taken from the beach.
Should I increase the contrast some more to darken the bellies before I submit?
Thank you once again.
