Spotting In ATL.

Tue Feb 17, 2009 3:25 pm

I am going to be heading to Atlanta International. Where are the good spotting place, really would like to get the Delta 77LR and all the heavy aircraft.

Thanks for the further advice.

A room high up inside the Renaissance Concourse is always a safe bet. Better be careful if you are on the parking garages though. You need a permit to shoot from them and if you don't have one, they will run you off. You need to contact landside operations at the airport to get one. Typically, once you get one it's good for six months. There are also a couple spots around the airport like the sewer plant and some others, but these are you two best options to get the 77LR. By the way, the 77LR typically comes in on the north runways and is easilly viewed from the North Parking Garage (early in the morning with sun to your back). Hope this helps!

For about 3 years now. You will get run off with out one fairly quickly.

The Renaissance sucks this time of year you will be looking straight into the sun all day long. Go here for a detailed guide:

In the late fall, winter, and early spring the sun will be at your back all day long. Most of the European stuff will come in on the North Side. I say most because at ATL some times they come in on the south side. Fed EX Martinair and UPS arrive on the North side. Most other Cargo on the south side.

Good point. Sun position this time of the year is iffy at best. Especially for shots you would like to get up here on ANet. If you just want to shoot for the heck of it, well that's another story.
