Photo Acceptance - Pre Screening (DeltaBravo90)

Sat Feb 28, 2009 5:51 pm

Took the following shot a few weekends ago at CYHZ. Could some of the more experienced members give advice on it? I'm not sure about it being dark, also is it sharp enough?

Looks completely back lit I don't know what you could do about that.

Backlit, you can try playing with the levels/curves, but looks most likely exposure or even dark.

It's dark. Back lit images can be accepted but need to be exposed properly in the first place.

So do you guys think there's hope for this photo? I'm not very good with photoshop, or other image processing software. What would i have to do to properly expose it.

Not much hope I'm afraid.

Well, that is a good question. Back light is probably the toughest light to deal with, especially for a.net. You need to meter the light on the "dark" side of the fuselage to expose it correctly, but on a bright sunny day this will cause you to over expose everything else around it. Does that make any sense?

Conclusion:
This photo is otherwise good besides that is backlit which is would be the probable reason for rejection if put in the queue.
Case Closed.

Hello,

I think the highlights are overexposed, that may happened editing or shooting, if edit is easy to fix.

The color cast at shadows are too blue and cyan.

I guess they are more gray than blue. take a look on this photo:

Take a look in a quick edit I did:

To fix that, I used the highlights/shadows tool, and color balance, than I select the aircraft and used Hue/saturation tool selecting only the only blue e cyan (where is Master) than reducing the saturation.

You may do better with the original.

Also, it appears to me like the tail of the aircraft is slightly soft. I would try sharpening it a little bit, but don't oversharpen, as you just go back to square one.  Smile
