As I am only one of those many newbies on a.net I should try to get a used one. In my eyes it doesn't make sense to buy a new some 600,-€ expensive lens just to say "I'm the new Sam Chui". That wouldn't work. How much money would you spent on a new lens together with at least two new batteries and one of these battery-grips that can be installed on the lower side of the camera holding two batteries?
As you said the gear is from 2000. Does it really make sense to buy new equipment for that camera? 3mp don't offer much space for editing, right?
I don't want to invest all of my money in a new camera. I just want to make nice pictures and share them successfully. It's painfully to have full ramp access as an Lufthansa mechanic when you only get bad shots. Many other spotters would create real "wonder-images" if they were able to access the ramp. They've proofen that they can even from the outside behind the fence...
