Photo Acceptance - Pre Screening (Serge933)

Sun Apr 05, 2009 5:28 am

Well first of all I want to say hello to all the Airliners.net members  Smile Ive been a member for quite a while and used the site even longer.

I just decided to go on the forums and chat on the Live Chat feature which is nice.

Ok well I uploaded these photos about a year ago after my flight to Argentina and back.

I tried adjusting brightness, contrast, blurries, and unleveled problems but I will need your help aswell. Please give your opinions on the photos and mabey help me by telling me what I may need to improve on.

Back when I took these, I was pretty new to photography and was using a brand new camera that I hadent used before. Please dont be so harsh haha.

Here are a few that I thought came out really nice.

The problem is motive in all of them and too low quality in everyone except one, nice pics though.

Cheers,

1) Motive (Edge of window and light reflecting off of a scratch, and focus is on sun not airplane) Blurry

2) Motive (Too many things blocking the a/c)

3) Motive (weird angle and you can see the pilot's faces); Blurry; Soft

4) Motive (nose of a/c blocked) Soft; Blurry.

Unfortunately not. Don't worry, head out to the airport and try your hand at some more. Here's some tips:

1) Make sure nothing is blocking the view of the aircraft

2) Shoot in good light, avoid early morning or late evening shots until you are experienced enough to shoot good pics in low light. Avoid mid-day shots where the sun is directly overhead, it makes lighting a pain.

3) Don't try to jump the perimeter fence to get that closeup shot.

4) Keep trying, you will get better over time.

5) For starting out, taking pics of static planes (sitting on the ramp) is good. It provides you time to take a lot of shots from different angles or camera settings, and it is a still subject so you should not suffer from any motion blur or focus problems. If you want to do moving objects, try taxiing planes, they move, but they move a lot slower than when in the air or on takeof landing, so that might help you get ready for when you want to move up to faster objects.

6) Shoot for yourself, not A.net. If the pics are good enough to upload to A.net, then fantastic, if not, no worries, it's YOUR photo, and if YOU like it, then that's all that matters.

Cheers,
Matt

OK, appreciate the tips.

I did kind of take all those pictures in a hurry since i'm in an airport haha. I guess I understand why they would be rejected.

Sadly, the closest INTL airport is about 20 minutes away and until I get my license, I wont be going there. Luckily there's a GA airport nearby which we usually visit. Ill try my luck there but the problem is the fencing  Sad

Thanks again.
