Formation Pictures And The Double Rule

Tue May 19, 2009 1:27 pm

Hi Guys,

recently the Patrouille Suisse was here in Hamburg.

Now I have a question about the double rule. I read the rejection guide but it wasn't 100% clear for me if that is allowed or not. I want to upload a picture where it shows 4 airplanes in the formation and then I'd like to upload another one where it only shows one of the airplanes. It is same day, same airshow, just a couple of minutes apart from another.
I assume this is to be considered as double then?

Thanks for the help.

If from the same side, yes.

Yes, they are.

But I just found out that on the formation picture there are 4 airplanes in it and the single side one shot is another one which is not part of the formation. Is that double as well? I mean it is a different registration.

You can only have a double if it's the same airframe, as determined by the information.

So the close-up wasn't very likely to be a double, even if that aircraft was visible in the formation shot. For formation shots, the info should refer to the closest aircraft.

I agree with Peter here. Although I have to admit that I did it differently here:

where I selected the registration of the leader (#1), I guess it is sometimes difficult to decide - in formation flying - which aircraft is closest to the photographer...

Anyway, I also think that the "motiv" of the formation shot is different enough from a "close-up of one aircraft" in order to avoid a double rejection, or am I wrong here?

I have another shot of the #8 in the database, but since the #8 is not present in the formation shot, I cannot proof my above statement  Smile (since different regs - in most cases - cannot lead to double rejection).

Best regards,

Walter

In my shot I cannot really make out which is the closest to me.

Thanks for the replies guys, I will wait and see.

Then pick one that you don't want to upload a close-up of  Wink
