Photo Acceptance- Prescreening (iamlucky13)

Sun Jun 07, 2009 7:02 am

Hello all,

I haven't tried a submission in a while. I'd appreciate any advice on whether to submit this shot or not, and any changes. Thanks.

It can surely qualify as a creative shot....but if it's rejected, keep it at the top of your personal collection.  Smile

Great shot, but I don't think the quality is there I'm afraid.

Could you expand on that please? Anything beyond the glare off the windows and slight back lighting? I will re-edit with slightly less sharpening per Aussie18's suggestion if I decide to put it in the queue.

I also noticed the foreground helo has no entries in the DB.

The glare off the window and slight backlighting isn't a problem. It looks slightly blurry / out of focus and therefore caused you to oversharpened the photo to try and compensate. Was it taken on a compact digital? It looks like there's been a lot of jpeg compression.

Thank you for the feedback. It was taken on a D40 / 70-300 VR at 300mm. That lens gets just a hair soft at that length, but typically not visible at this size. It might be very slightly out-of-focus since I had to shoot fast to get this shot, but I think the impression of softness might be more from coma in the high contrast areas.

I'm going to try more selectively sharpening and give it a shot. Thanks all.
