How To Use 'curves' Effectively?

Mon Jun 15, 2009 11:47 pm

Hey all

I brought this up in another thread recently, with little response.

I'm curious, how does one use the 'curves' function in Photoshop effectively. What type of guidelines are there to get the most true colors out of your photos? Is there a trick, or a tip to it? (Like just pushing the arrows to the edges of the map in levels?)

Thanks

only when needed, and only on their own layer so it can be applied selectively.

How could you apply curves selectively? If you change the color of the picture, won't it be rather noticeable when done selectively?

And still, HOW do you use curves to begin with?

Get this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Photoshop-Elem...UTF8&s=books&qid=1245117814&sr=1-1

It explains it well and has examples. It also gives you a good understand of post processing and making pictures come out their best.

Not when used on their own layer mask.

You need a few good books....that is a very basic function of PS......
