C-130 Photographing Problems

Tue Jun 23, 2009 1:35 pm

Hi, I am fortunate enough to live right in the Valley where the RAF practice the C-130 low flying , i'd love to be able to get some photos of them but i never know when they are going to be flying and by the time i here them, its too late. Is there a way i can find out when they will be flying?

I doubt they advertise. Short of getting an airband radio and listening to military frequencies to see what's about, you'll probably just have to be patient and go and wait for them to fly by. It's possible there are military (radio/acars/sbs) forums where people keep track of such things. You could try the mil av forum here.

There's a website dedicated to low flying stuff in the UK, specifically the LFAs in Wales and Scotland. Google for it, if not, their link might be posted on the RAF Valley website. From what I gather, the RAF Valley pilots love the photos too!
Me: (Lining up on final) I shall now select an aiming point. || Instructor: Well, I hope it's the runway...
