Leaked Nikon Bodies And Lenses

Thu Jul 09, 2009 1:38 am

There are some tasty items on this list. Hopefully it isn't BS:

That Coolpix P1DX looks lethal, finally an APS sensor is a compact body.

Shooting action with a point and shoot is my new love!

The D4X is going to be a sick body. I mean, REAL sick! I'd buy it!

I don't know - he talks with an authority but he is really just guessing, like the rest of us, although I do agree that some of the lenses make little sense.

I also don't understand this obsession with putting video features in anything but lower end bodies.

I've been told that Nikonrumors is pretty hit or miss by my Nikon using friends. I guess we'll see soon enough.

Royal, I agree with you totally. The video and still should remain seperate but I digress.

300mm F/4G VR!! (faint!)

That's the lens I've been wanting for so long to replace my old 300/4.   I don't care so much about the bodies (though a D4 would be nice).

And a 120-450 VRII lens to replace the old, slow 80-400!  Smile I don't need a 120-450, I already have a 200-400, but 80-400 users or potential buyers will surely be interested. SWM should be a great improvement.

What do you need 30mp for? It'd be a slow as a wet week too (unless they can make it do 6fps or better. 12mp and quality glass is enough.

Though a D4 at 15mp with some good sensor cleaning and even better high ISO performance might be handy.   For now, I'd just be happy with a 300/4 G type lens with VR and then I can retire my elderly AF Nikkor 300mm IF-ED lens.

Well, that would be my "photoshoot" camera that I would use on statics and objects that don't move fast like people, etc. I agree, it would be a slow sucker but for many things a freelancer does, the 30mp are very useful.

I agree on studio photos. I've not yet been able to try a D3x. I have used the Nikon D3 though.  Smile A thoroughly pleasant experience. Big grin

The D700x could be interesting. Also the 400mm f/5.6.

I agree. I think many of what Nikon has coming out, if this is to be believed, is exciting. I would just like to see the video features relegated to the lower end DSLR's instead of the Pro-sumer and the Pro bodies. To me, the people that will be buying these are not too intrested in video capabilities. My thought is, if they can afford those types of bodies (which thankfully I am, so I am speaking from my personal experience), then you can spend money on a true HD video camera. I would love to have an HD video camera but I doubt I would use it hardly as much as I do the still camera.

You know, Canon has one of those 400 5.6 lenses - and the results from it seem quite good. Even if it is a bit slow, the sharpness of that lens seems great.

I'm half guessing that if it is true, the Canon lens might have been the inspiration.  Wink

And finally, the 80-400 can be sent to the grave - so it seems. I only had a brief encounter with that lens - and I didn't like much about it.  Sad Thankfully - I didn't buy it.  Smile Even the Sigma 50-500 seemed a better lens.

The D700x, if it is priced as keenly as the D700 was could win a lot of long-term friends and really bring Nikon back to being the unquestioned leader of the camera world. If they can get that sort of specs and performance into something around AUD$4500, they've got a sure winner.

You only need see the D3x brochure and Tim Andrew's stunning photos of the Giugiaro Mustang (especially with the 200/2 VR prime lens) to be converted to Nikon's cause. And the huge fold out panorama - which had such superb detail for a cropped image.

I hope the AF-S Nikkor 120-450mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II turns out to be true Big grin

The AF-S Nikkor 400mm f/5.6G VR sounds interesting as well
