Photo Acceptance Post-screening (cvervais)

Tue Jul 28, 2009 2:59 am

I've recently had two photos rejected and I'm looking for feedback of course.

First one is.....
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...980251.3372cvervais-n309as_702.jpg

Reason: Soft

I'm trying to identify where it's looking soft and I've come up with the doors and the logo on the tail. Are there any other parts I'm missing?

Second.....
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...138019.7855cvervais-n610qx_607.jpg

Reason: Editing Personal
Personal Message:
A comment from the screener regarding this upload:
"not sure what you did to the sky but it is terrible"

I adjusted the contrast up after feedback from several members here, maybe I pushed it too much? That's pretty much all I did that could have affected the sky.

I've done the following edit by reducing the contrast and re-setting the levels. Does it look better?

Your edit makes the sky look better but that seems pretty harsh on the screener to say that about your shot. lol. Even though they are "screening" it. That just seems harsh.

But yes the edit looks better IMO.

Hi Chris,

Yes, the new edit looks better. But all pics are soft, just overall soft, including both rejected and the new edit. Easy fix, just sharpen more, but mask the sky out so that you are applying sharpening only to the areas that need it!

Hope it helps  Smile

Hi Andrés,

Thank you so much for dropping in, I always welcome any feedback a screener has for me. Especially when it's a little more than what's in email.  champagne

I'll see what I can do to improve them.

I just got this rejected for soft:

http://homepage.mac.com/cvervais/airliners/cvervais-N384FE_521-3.jpg

I'm not sure I'm seeing it though. It looks sharp to me. You can make out the window and door blanks, the tail features are sharp, and the nose looks good too. You can see where the name of the plane is as well as where the MD10 is even though they're too small to make out. The titles also seem sharp to me.

Any advice on what I'm missing?

Im new to this but maybe the tail number and maybe under the tail? The rear end of the plane?

Not sure.

Just trying to help.

Looks overall soft, but getting softer towards the tail, like it didn't focus correctly with the right hand side focus points.

Thanks Andrés,

I'll try some selective sharpening back there then and see what comes out. If it looks better I'll post it here for feedback, if not I'll relegate it to the personal collection and go to the airport and try to get a better quality starting shot.
