Photo Acceptance - Pre Screening (Bottie)

Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:37 pm

What to expect from these shots in the queue:

For the last one, that red pole (with the stairs) is giving me a headache. When I level my shot based on it, all buildings in the back aren't level, when I leven it based on all the buildings, that pole isn't level (like the pic above).

Thanks for the feedback  Smile

Ok, well I'm not in best position to critique, but I'll do what I can..

I'm not sure, but the port wing on all three (the American least of all) might be a bit soft or dark / grainy. Also, I'm not sure how the rule goes about clipping the elevator, which you did in all three, but if I were a screener, I'd accept the United in a heartbeat.

Hi Bram,

If I were a screener I'd reject the UA 772 because of the dark underside and engines... and probably accept it after a quick rework. The motive is certainly there. The AA 763 is almost okay but still a bit dark and the SN 333 is a bit oversharpened -- see the front gear doors -- and loosk in general a bit harshly lit to me.
Cheers

Since a few months, I process m pictures on my laptop (HP 8510W Workstation). Before I did them on my PC, on which I had quite some rejections for being soft and contrast.

Since I do them on the laptop, I have fewer rejections for being soft, but when I look at these pictures on my PC, they look totally oversharpened and quite some jaggies, but my softness rejections dropped  Smile

The histogram for these 3 look OK to me, but I admit, it's on the edge concerning to darker areas on the pics  Smile

Thank you so far  Smile

Hi Bram,

The first three look oversharpened and with too much/harsh contrast, and all of your pictures have a slightly grainy look.
The flying landing gear looks blurry (and I don't mean the wheels), AA 767 soft, Brussels looks OK, TUI (?) 767 blurry-soft, Hainan A340 looks great (the one I most like), and the NW A330 looks heat hazed (and I would have cloned out that bird or whatever it is in front of the cockpit).

Hope it helps  Smile

Hi,

Quoting Bottie (Reply 8):

Too dark and soft/oversharp in parts - is the original ever so slightly blurry?

There was quite some wind, and the plastic wrapping around the engines had quite some movement

Hi,

Sharpness is better now, but I would suggest to keep size at max 1024 as you can see some blur. Now you can improve on color and levels as I did on the right side:

Now it's up to you, good luck!
