Need Help For Identity Of This Plane. (whales)

Tue Aug 04, 2009 7:01 pm

Hello everyone

I am having a problem getting the exact identity of this aircraft, I almost certain it is a Piper Cub, but not sure which model. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer.

Quoting Ptrjong (Reply 1):
Looks like a Piper PA-22 Tri-Pacer.

Piper made several versions of this design.

The one you are looking for is most likely the PA 22-150 Tri-Pacer or Caribbean.
The difference was mostly cosmetic, with some stars painted on the rudder of the Caribbean.
There is also a door on the left side for access to the rear seats.

Another one was the PA 22-108 Colt.

As you may notice, no window behind the cabin-door (this was a 2-seater), a "flatter" spinner, no "luggage door" and no flaps.

A popular conversion is done by turning the main wheels around and adding a tailwheeel, making it look and handle like a PA 20 Pacer.

Hope this helped for future pics.

Quoting Whales (Thread starter):
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would go with the Tri-Pacer due to the similarities of the side window configuration and the nose wheel rear guard.
Slower traffic, keep right
