What's The Difference Between These Two?

Sat Aug 15, 2009 1:23 am

Hello:

Just wondering. I had a Lufthansa shot approved on here that went well, seemed well recieved. Screened right away, etc. I've had a Swiss shot around the same time and same day, same settings too I believe except the LH was shot at f/7.1 and the Swiss was shot at f5.6, both iso 200 and 1/60th. The Swiss took a while to get screened and then was sent to Mr.Johan for screening, and whatever he decides will be the outcome for it.

But, I was wondering what the difference between the two shots were. Why one got approved right away, no issue and the other must have been sent around to the screeners and then sent to Johan?

Can anybody see any differences between the two? The only thing I can see it was shot at an angle slightly south of the LH shot, on purpose to get me favorite building, the Prudential in the background. Just trying to learn the ropes a bit more. Respectfully, R

The colors pop out more in the first one (not that the second one is bad!). If anything the second one could have used a little more contrast IMO. They still call it Johan's queue? He's been gone from the site for 2 years now?

Yeah, new for me so that is why I'm curious.

He must do some screening, a friend of mine just had one that was sent to him and approved last week. His shot was pretty old and rare though.

I don't think Johan is involved in any screening anymore. Anything "left for Johan" goes to the Head Screeners if I'm not mistaken.

Your shot is probably being passed around the screening team for an overall consensus. Your first shot does have more pop and the overall scene was probably deemed special enough that is was accepted despite being borderline quality-wise. The second one, again, seems borderling (soft, dark?) and either the entire screening team or the Head Screeners are discussing behind the scenes whether or not to add it.

Just my two cents...I could be way off though.

The Swiss made it in this morning. Thanks for the info about the Johan Queue, etc.

Thank you,
