Photo Acceptance - Pre Screening (contrail25)

Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:59 am

Just MH-65C 6581 from CGAS Humboldt Bay, however this was taken in Meadowlake Airport east of Colorado Springs. They were a surprise visit to the 2009 USCG picnic. Ferry flight from AR&SC at CGAS Elizabeth City. Colorado Springs sits above 6000 MSL, so it's a rare day to see a USCG helo out here.

Haven't processed this photo yet at all. Just wanted initial ideas/suggestions.

Backlit, and the rotor is chopped off on the left side. Also, there is a person (flight crew member) standing in the door.

Quoting Contrail25 (Thread starter):
so it's a rare day to see a USCG helo out here.

I don't think the screeners lower the standards for rare shots or rare subjects at particular fields. If it were say, the first shot of a new prototype helicopter, they might be a bit more lenient, regardless of where it was taken. But since this is a common (relative to the database) aircraft, it does not matter where it was taken really.

I think this one has motive written on it, sorry.

Do you have any other shots where the sun is illuminating the aircraft and not backlit?
Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand, just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

No reason to be sorry! I'm still in the learning process, so I'm far from harboring bad feelings over bad shots!

Unfortunately no other shots worthy of a.net on this, I got distracted by a plane crash.

I did notice that my search for MH-65C only gave up two results because most folks have incorrect information on recent shots of USCG '65s, i.e. labeled as HH-65Cs. Most are considered MHs now. But I digress...

Thanks for the comments!
