Photo Acceptance Pre Screening (kanepjk)

Tue Aug 18, 2009 9:25 pm

I'd like to submit one of these photos into the cue. Can I get some of your thoughts on which one is best and any suggested edits.

Pat,

They are all oversharp. When you've processed them, have you just used the sharpen tool? Assuming you're using photoshop, you need to use Unsharp Mask (USM) to carefully sharpen them.

I'm using Photoshop Elements. I do one pass of Adjust sharpeness at 50%, .1. I then make a new layer, do a second pass of Adjust sharpness at 150% .2, hide it with a layer mask and then paint it in the requried areas with 25% opacity.

I've never had a photo accepted here and almost without exception one of the rejection reasons was softness. So maybe I'm going to far.

Are there specific areas you are seeing the oversharpening?

The whole photo is oversharp on them. If you want to send me a couple of photo's via my profile, I'm more than happy to give them an edit for you and comment on them.
