I'm currently shooting with a 5D MKI and a 100-400 lens. It's a great combo and I love it but, the lens is a dust pump and likes to deposit dust on the sensor. The MKII has something called integrated cleaning system. I'd like to know if this works as advertised or if does not live up to the hype. Also, does this system and how it's integrated into the sensor interfere with sensor swabs if they're needed?
I know DPP can be used with the MKI to manually remove spots and you can do it in Photoshop as well which, I do. But, the literature on the MKII located here:
Seems to imply that you can use DPP with the camera to have the spots removed "in camera".
"This Dust Delete Data image is analyzed in-camera, and the location and size of any remaining dust is subtracted from any subsequent pictures taken"
It seems this is available with the Digic4 equipped camera so that means 40D or higher. It's discussed briefly in this topic from 2007:
Canon Rebel Sensor Cleaning Systems (by ACDC8 Oct 18 2007 in Aviation Photography)
But, it's now 2009 and I imagine more members here have had some hands on time with it and I'd like to hear about their experiences.
Thanks for any insight.
