Question On Motive ( Contrail25 )

Sun Oct 04, 2009 4:54 am

I'm trying to get a shot of my new ride, but it's either on the ramp with a GPU or in the hangar. Due to the proximity of the GPU to the jet, I've found it rather impossible to shoot the entry door side without seeing the GPU. See example below. My question is if the GPU would be grounds for a motive rejection. It's not blocking any part of the jet, but it's kinda 'there.' I snapped this the other afternoon as we were leaving, couldn't stick around to work on a good shot.

Question On Motive ( Contrail25 )

Motive wise it should be fine since it isnt obstructing any part of the a/c,If it was infront of the wing than that would be motive rejection.

Cheers Mark.

IMHO, the GPU would not be grounds for motive rejection as you have shot it.

I'm on my laptop right now (and a few beers into Saturday night) but if you give that shot a bit of CW rotation, raise a bit higher in frame, and check for dust spots it would get a HQ from me.

Make sure category is "Military" and not "Business".

BTW, what you need a GPU for on that bird? We used to have a small bird like that at my company and never used a GPU.

Pete

Edit - you got 2 screener thumbs up, so I would say you're good to go!

It's hot and humid down here, as in 85+ most of the year. Sitting in the cockpit kinda sucks without A/C, so we either have to start engines or have the GPU plugged in. The jets here even have an extra, small A/C unit installed behind the co-pilot.

Maintenance says it saves on the wear and tear of the starter and batteries during starts too...I just care more about sweating my rear end off.  Smile

Question On Motive ( Contrail25 )

Well that makes a lot of sense, that's what I figured. Being north (eh?) we don't see those temps most of the time. Usually wheel 'er out of the hangar, fire her up and head out, the turn at the other end is done with one side running. This, of course, from an interested pax perspective.

We now have Citation 680 and 750 plus our Challenger 850/890's so APU's abound.

Thanks. Nice ride by the way.

Edited, fixed CW rotation and a dust spot in the sky. Saved at 1024, couldn't get 1600 under 1mb. (thought 1600 looked better than the 1024 after it uploaded though)

It looks good after you fixed CW and dust removed. However the quality is fair ok with 1024. You can try 1200 if 1600 is still over 1mb

I tweaked it down to under 1mb, here's the 1600. Still not sure, things look different when it's not 1:30am  Smile

Well and update, I failed to get my goal of all three tails there that I flew. I didn't get good shots of 84-0070 or 84-0107(might be one digit off...will check log).

Funny, I've flow 4 different a/c in my short time in the service and I've flown a 69 tail in each!  Wink
