Better Shots From Newbies Of Late?

Thu Oct 22, 2009 12:13 pm

Hi all,

You can tell I'm recently-unemployed with time on my hands.....

I've been looking at pre-screening threads lately and have noticed that many of the newbies' images up for scrutiny appear to be of a much higher standard than they were perhaps 6-12 months ago. They aren't perfect but they're certainly not too far off being accepted here. Seems that a new breed of newbie has arrived - one willing to take the time out to read the forums; read the rejection/acceptance criteria; take and make use of criticism and generally learn about the site.

I know a few guys personally who came here at the beginning of the year as newbies and now have acceptances well into double (and even treble) figures.

I also notice that we don't seem to get this irate attitude of "How dare you reject my photo or say it's not good enough?! It's as good as anything already here!" much any more. Anyone else noticed all this or is it just me?

Anyway, I'd like to give a big thumbs-up to all our newer/younger members who are no doubt in line to take over and be the 'big-shots' of tomorrow! Your determination and perseverance isn't going unnoticed.

Karl

I think this one deserves much more hits:

It 's a shame, even Axalp-pictures seem to draw less viewers these days...

I would like to think I fall into that category. I must be doing something right with my pre-screening as my accepted uploads have shot right up compared to constant rejections

I now have two pages on the search listings, with my first upload being only in May, and now my upload queue limit has now increased to five!  Smile

Hey, nice photo!
I agree that it needs more views. It truly shows the beauty of the DC3.

My second photo uploaded so far.

Vintage DC3 shot! I love it and I have a few like that myself. I agree, you would think it would gather more views but alot of it has to do with timing and what else is in the queue. Irregardless, that is a nice shot and one that I would personally very happy with.

That reminds me, I need to work on some of my DC3 shots and see if I can get a few up here on ANet.

I have a similar picture, though it is not half as good as yours, of a C-47. I was amazed by all the rivets. I got a chance to take a hour and a half flight in a C-47 this summer. They are pretty noisy in flight.
