Colour Profile

Thu Oct 29, 2009 4:17 pm

I was uploading an image today and it make out with a very purple tint. I used sRGB colour profile so I don't know what's wrong. The images also look fine on flickr.

Hello Andy.

I don't think it is your Colour Profile. Check your sliders in PS. Under level, then go to each individual slider.

Check this thread out from one of my screening threads, Still provides us with a great example.

Post an example of the two if you would like.

Thanks Ron.

The strange thing is it looks fine on the web everywhere else but here.

Here is the one I am talking about:

Here is exactly the same one off flickr:

The flickr has the correct colours and is the same as it was in PS and LR. When I uploaded here it seems to have changed them.

I believe the uploading process here strips out any embedded colour profile. I get around this by not having PS color manage the image and then not embedding the colour profile when I export it as a jpeg.

Yeah, that original image is in ProPHoto colorpsace. Anyone without the latest Firefox or Safari won't be able to see it properly. You need to convert it to sRGB colorspace by using Convert to Profile... in Photoshop (perceptual mode) OR use Save for Web and check the convert to sRGB box.

That seems to have done the trick. It's a bit strange that I've never had this problem until moving to a new computer but never mind.
