And what a photo it is. Ron (along with his compatriot Rudy C.) is one of the few people that gets to show us a side of Logan airport that mere mortals like me can only hope to see. Now it's time to march on to 500 and beyond. Keep up the good work, Ron!

Congrat's Ron! Are you and Gary King having some sort of race? He hit 100 only two days ago!

It may only be 100 in there so far but there sure are some interesting images!

Well done Ron.

Congrats!! Can't wait to see what you upload next!
Your images have always been interesting.

Also isn't the image you took at 200mm on the 70-200mm L?

The best of luck with your next uploads,

Conor

Guys, thank you very much for the support. I appreciate all your advice, views / comments, and answers to some of my silly / basic questions!

Thanks, I'm shooting for more in the DB, but 500 feels a long long way away!

Quoting Conoramoia (Reply 2):

This is my first shot in the DB with IS, I just went to the 70-200 f/4L IS, previous shots were with the Non IS version of this lens (both great lenses). Taken at 144MM.

Thank you,

Ron

I was shocked when I saw this thread this morning, as I have seen Ron's work in the forum and front page over the past few months and assumed given the quality that he had a lot of shots in the DB.

Good work Ron - looking forward to seeing more.

Smile Thanks! New to uploading, but like alot of people I was a lurker on this site off and on for quite some time. I actually recall back in the late 90's like 1997 or 1998 shortly after this site came live I think, looking at the photos on here at the computer lab when I was in college. I went to an Aviation college, and I remember being in the computer lab, and all us "aviation geeks" were checking out this new site called airliners.net. It certainly helped writing papers for school, because at that time I used to also come to Anet primarily for the free airline / aviation news. It helped writing papers using Anet news for research and occasionally checking out the photos. At that time Anet was one of the only sites compiling aviation news and it was free, I believe.

Quoting ThierryD (Reply 22):

Probably since there are some great aviation photographers that came out of BOS, like Vasco, Garfinkel, Rudy, etc. So not only do I have alot to work towards, their photos definitely provide for inspiration and make for nice goals.

I should also be thankful that while I had been taking a camera to an airport consistently since 1998, it wasn't until I met Rudy at Boston, showed him some photos, got made fun of endlessly for lack of quality, that I got a DSLR.

I'm embarresed to say I was one of those people who couldn't see or didn't realize the difference in quality between a point and shoot and an SLR. I either couldn't justify the expense, or the difference in camera sizes in order to get one. It wasn't until he made me compare my shots with his did I become convinced I needed to stop shooting with a P&S and get into it for real. After that, well the competitive juices got flowing and it became a little contest between us. As you can see if you read between the lines on the comments on my AF1 shot  Smile Now I know, after realizing how high the bar is here, that it was a contest he won before it even started. But, I'm really enjoying this!!!

Thanks everyone!

Ron,

without a doubt your are number one in Boston right now (sorry Rudy, he has picked your brain for too long and it seems that you are getting old these days....I recall a comment Ron made about AF one)....until I will return to Boston one day, then you have to step down and hand the crown to the king again --just kidding.

your images are full of creativity and atmosphere, the images are worth to be opened up large.

Greetings from Dubai

Haha, LMAO Vasco. Thank you very much!

Actually something today you would appreciate. Without saying too much, but Rudy was requested to photograph something out of a helicopter today for someone. I kept giving him little jabs and putting it in his head that he was totally going to mess it up because he doesn't have any VR on his Nikon gear. A couple comments by me like "see Rudy, if you had a Canon I would let you borrow my IS lens."

After I let that set in, he was starting to ask about borrowing my "fisher price" Canon gear (his term as you may recall) checking out what focal lengths I have IS in to see if it would work for him. I almost successfully converted him to "the white" but then I told him he couldn't borrow it, I needed it!  Smile

If/when ou make it out this way I'll be happy too  biggrin
