Sun Nov 15, 2009 9:45 am

Greetings all my spotters friends. I have been gone for awhile looking for a good set up besides my Point and Shoot. This is what I have narrowed it down to..

Canon EOS Rebel XS

it comes with a
EF-S 18-55mm and a EF 75-300MM
Camera Bag
min Card

575.00

When i saw it I took a pic and I am trying to remember what else it has but tel me what you think. Is this a good started camera.

Thanks

Nothing wrong with it at all. The camera is great for beginning with. If you have the money, maybe look to invest in a better zoom lens as your next option - a few to choose from depending on what focal distance you require which you will be able to figure out from using the 75-300.

Jason,

It´s a good setup to start with. You´ll have most of focal distances you´ll need with these two lenses.
I´ve used a 75-300 for 8 years , and it´s not a high quality lens, but if you learn how to work with it´s limitations, you´ll be able to get decent images from that. If you use it stopped down to f/8 , from 75 to 200 you´ll get sharp images. from 200 to 300 the image produced is quite soft.
The Virgin Nigeria E-190 and Czech Republic A319CJ on my photos we´re made using this lens.

Cheers
