Questions About Upgrading From Nikon D50 To D90

Thu Nov 26, 2009 4:27 am

It seems like most agree that upgrading to nice lenses will do more to improve one's photography than upgrading camera bodies. I understand the logic, but lately, I feel like I could get a lot out of an upgrade from my D50 to a D90.

This may seem like a dumb question, but if I continue using the same lenses and techniques, what am I most likely to notice after such an upgrade? Increased sharpness? Fewer blown-out areas? Faster focusing? I mean, I know the camera will be better...I'm just trying to figure out what real-world improvements I'll see.

If it helps, I've been using Nikon's 18-55VR and 180mm 2.8 lenses.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The biggest change will be the 12.3MP, better autofocus and metering systems. The ISO performance should be better as well (as it is on the D300).

This would be a big improvement for you.

The 180mm F/2.8 should be superb on the D90!

Regards,
Chris.

I took the jump from a D70 to both the D300 and D90. The D90 is excellent value for money. At times I think it's even better than the D300. Image quality is superb. I only shoot NEFs.
