Reno Tahoe Airport

Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:59 am

Hi

has anybody ever shot photos at Reno Tahoe. Is there a very good spot to shoot from. Also is there any way to get acess to the airport with a press pass. Such as an offical shooting area with authorized members?

There is no official shooting area and you don't need a press pass to shoot here. I have put together a site with info here:
Reno / Tahoe International - KRNO
and one other page:
Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO/KRNO)

My 2 uncles and cousins live in South Lake Tahoe and Ill probably be going up there this weekend probably. If I have a Nikon D90 and a Canon EOS Rebel which runway would be best. How would you id which runway that is. I am a first time spotter and have no idea how to ID things. Would I just take a pad of paper note it down and then look it up when I upload pics? Also what mm size should I use for the lense? Specifaclly for Reno Tahoe cause thats where Ill be shooting.  Smile It is def better than Sacramento

The runway depends on the winds, but the main one is 16R/34L, if the winds are from the north then 34 will be in use if they are from the south then 16 will be in use. I think a good length is 200mm for some of the closer spots although if you have more that will help. Sacramento is better than RNO though in terms of flight numbers, it can get a little slow here.
