Looks like a pretty good camera for the price. It's got a pretty long zoom and stabilization, which will make it easier to use the zoom at the long end. It also seems to have full photographic control (i.e. aperture, shutter, etc..) which makes it a great place to start learning the skills you'll need as you progress.

The bad news is that the sensor is still tiny (causes lots of noise), and the super-zoom lens means the image quality won't be the greatest (especially towards the long end), so don't expect to be taking too many photos that would make it here (under ideal conditions, it MIGHT be possible though).

But again, it certainly looks like a good place to start for a beginner.

I have used a similar fujifilm starting off, Dana has hit the nail on the head with regards to the camera.
One thing you should know is that after a while of use,no matter how much care you take, you will likely get chromatic aberration as with all point and shoots.

Regards,

Conor

What does that mean

When a lens can't focus all wavelengths of light on exactly the same spot on the sensor.

See here:

Chromatic aberration

Also related: purple fringing, which I think Connor might actually have meant.

Well, given this statement

I assumed more suggestions weren't needed. My apologies for not being able to divine your true intentions. Perhaps I'll let someone else who can better interpret your intentions from your posts answer.

In the meantime, I suggest doing at little bit of the leg work yourself, and this website is as good a place as any to start.

Aaah yes....Generally along the same lines...

The one thing about these is that they are pretty much impossible to remove from a picture.

Hello!
I have a pic in the database taken with a Fuji S6500FD which is basically an older version of this. I had it for a bit before I got my SLR.
