I would just like to thank everyone who helped me with advice about getting a new lens. I went with the 24-105 L lens. Here are 2 photos taken with it.

No worries, enjoy the 24-105, it's a great bit of glass as I'm sure you've found. A couple of nice photos there to prove it!
