Spotting Tips For LAS In August

Tue Aug 03, 2010 8:23 am

I'll be in Las Vegas for a few days later this month, and I'm planning on heading out early one morning to get some pictures in. I've been looking over this website for tips on where some good spots are, and I'm thinking of setting up either on Palo Verde Road near the northern end of the 01/19s or somewhere to the southeast of that runway pair. I figure that the heat will mean I'll only have 90 minutes from sunrise at the most to get some good shots in before the heat haze takes over, based on what I know from shooting at HNL and the temperature info I've pulled from the Weather Underground website.

What I'm mainly wondering about at this point is what kind of traffic pattern is usually used, so I'll have a better idea of where the planes will be, although any other advice is appreciated.
